Fibre optic strain measurements for bond modelling of prestressed near-surface-mounted iron-based shape memory alloy bars

چکیده
Near-surface-mounted (NSM) iron-based shape memory alloy (memory-steel) bars represent a novel type of reinforcement for prestressed strengthening concrete structures. To examine the bond behaviour these embedded reinforcements in detail, fibre optic (FO) methods can be used. In this study, distributed FO strain measurements were performed small-scale experiments and large-scale structural using non-prestressed NSM memory-steel bars. The demonstrated measurement technique's feasibility on bars, provided insights into complex profiles before after prestressing, revealed active lengths. When bar was subjected to an external load, reduction bar's stiffness resulted increase length. results furthermore highlighted importance rigid fixations avoid prestress loss. obtained distributions also processed calculate slip axial stress, investigate parameters three different shear stress–slip laws (BSSLs). A linear increasing BSSL with nonlinear led realistic calculation stress bar, while resulting acceptable strain. implementation constant Young’s modulus consistently overestimated stress.

Nonlinear Hamiltonian modelling of magnetic shape memory alloy based actuators
This paper proposes an application of the Lagrangian formalism and its Hamiltonian extension to design, model and control a mechatronic system using Magnetic Shape Memory Alloys. In this aim, an original dynamical modelling of a Magnetic Shape Memory Alloy based actuator is presented. Energy-based techniques are used to obtain a coherent modelling of the magnetical, mechanical and thermodynamic...

Near-surface mounted (NSM) bars have been used for flexural strengthening of reinforced concrete members. The data available on this type of reinforcement technique are limited and typically, the bars or strips are embedded using an epoxy. Long term durability, abrasion resistance, and compatibility of the repair are important issues with this type of repair. One untested option for embedding t...

Although the optical sensing technology has been available for a number of years the recent rapid adoption is due to a breakthrough in the way that optical fibre sensors are deployed. Optical fibres are now being embedded within a glass fibre/epoxy composite carrier to form a robust component suitable for handling offshore. The carrier provides resistance to damage during deployment and from ex...
متن کاملApplication of Near Surface Mounted (NSM) technique for Seismic Retrofitting of Heritage Buildings
The high vulnerability of the cultural buildings due to seismic actions urged researchers to retrofit them using reversible and compatible techniques. The application of fiber reinforced polymer (FRP) for enhancing the structural behavior of masonry buildings, under seismic actions, has been studied by many researchers. The near-surface mounting (NSM) technique is a relatively new retrofitting ...
